Our Training Programs & Services

Practical training programs, and job-ready graduates, across Toronto & the GTA.

The Reno Academy delivers practical, job-focused trades training across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, and connects job-ready graduates with the employers and agencies who need them. Everything below is built around one outcome: getting people into paid, in-demand work in renovation, landscaping, and property maintenance.

Featured Program: Site Squad Bootcamp LE

Our flagship offering is the Site Squad Bootcamp LE: an intensive two-day, 16-hour pre-employment program that takes complete beginners to job-ready. In two days (70% hands-on), participants learn professional job-site conduct, tool identification, safe lifting, demolition and cleanup, and a full outdoor sequence of power washing, deck and fence repair, and sealing or painting. Graduates earn a recognized certificate of completion.

Skills We Train

Across our programs, participants build practical competence in six core skill areas that GTA employers hire for:

  • Professional conduct. Arriving on time and appropriately dressed, following site rules, communicating respectfully, and representing an employer well on any job site or client property.
  • Tool identification & use. Correctly naming and selecting common hand tools, hammers, screwdrivers (including the Canadian Robertson), pry bars, levels, reading a measuring tape, and choosing the right tape for the job.
  • Safe lifting & site navigation. Lifting with the legs, performing two-person team lifts, and moving materials safely to prevent the most common workplace injury.
  • Demolition & cleanup. Protecting a site, demolishing methodically, de-nailing lumber, bagging and sorting debris correctly, and leaving a site clean and organized.
  • Outdoor maintenance. Operating a pressure washer safely on wood, replacing a damaged plank, and applying sealer or stain for a finish that lasts.
  • Interview skills. A live handshake drill, a business-casual dress-code primer, and guided mock Q&A practice, so graduates can confidently land the job their new skills qualify them for.

Training for Every Starting Point

Our programs are designed so that anyone willing to learn can succeed, with no experience and no special education required. We welcome people new to the workforce, career changers, newcomers to Canada, adults on social assistance, and persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities, with patient, supportive instruction and small class sizes throughout.

For Employers: Hire Job-Ready Graduates

Looking for reliable, safety-minded help for the busy season? Our graduates understand professional job-site conduct, basic tools, safe lifting, demolition cleanup, and deck and fence maintenance, ready to contribute from their first shift. We’re happy to connect you with upcoming graduates who fit your crews.

For Agencies: Inclusive Participant Placements

We partner with caseworkers, support workers, and referring agencies to place participants in training built for accessible, inclusive delivery. Our current referral partner is The Career Foundation, supported by the Province of Ontario. Assessment is continuous and supportive rather than a single high-pressure test, and our small cohorts allow for individualized support. Contact us to discuss placing participants in an upcoming cohort.

Service Area

The Reno Academy trains and serves Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, focusing on the renovation and property-maintenance skills that are in demand across the region, especially the seasonal services GTA homeowners pay for every spring and summer.
